Smriti Rekha Borah Saikia is a positive thinker and a hardworking professional dancer who has trained and performed her folk dance related skills all over the world for the past 14th years.

She has instituted Samannay Kshetra to promote and preserve the multi-ethnic folk dance traditions representing all eight North-eastern states primarily Assam. It’s a folk and music institute which main aim is to contribute to society by integrating different tribes of North East by performing their different dance forms and music and to keep the dying native folk culture alive for as long as possible.

She and her troupe of dancers have performed over 5000 programs across the country and even abroad.

She has received many awards and title in her journey of folk dance. She has received Moonlight Media Special Award for contribution to Folk culture. She was conferred the title of ‘Guru Of Folk Dance’ under the Guru Shishya Parampara scheme started by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in 2008.  She is invited regularly to be the judge of televised dance reality shows on folk dances.

She has a passion for exploring different culture and ethnic traditions of India as well as all over the World. She has completed her bachelor degree of Arts from North Lakhimpur Girls College.
